Activate your FREE Welding Institute Associate Membership

Join the leading professional engineering institution supporting welding and joining professionals with welding, joining and allied technologies.

As part of its TWI Ltd Industrial Membership, your company received some free one-year AWeldI memberships for some of its staff. AWeldI is our open grade of membership and provides access to all member benefits.

What are the benefits of becoming a Welding Institute Member?

CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

Being a Professional Member demonstrates a commitment to the industry and to your own career and will benefit both you and your company. It indicates that you are continually learning, keeping up-to-date with industry standards and practices and broadening your knowledge and skills, while remaining competent.

As a Professional Member, you are expected to carry out Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities.

ACCESS TO CPD ACTIVITIES

Professional Membership provides access to CPD activities, such as webinars and events, as well as professional volunteering opportunities. (Attending a webinar for example, would be worth 2 CPD points per hour of activity.)

You also have access to an online CPD recording platform, designed by the Engineering Council, which allows you to update your records ‘on the go’.

INDUSTRY RECOGNITION

Both Professional Membership and Engineering Council registration are competence assessed professional qualifications based on peer review processes, providing professional recognition of individuals.

We provide support and guidance for upgrades to our professional grades of membership - Technician (TechWeldI), Member (MWeldI) and Fellow (FWeldI) – as well as Engineering Council registration (EngTech, IEng, CEng, MWeldI etc.).

CAREER DEVELOPMENT GUIDANCE

Our dedicated membership team will guide and assist you in the application process - a designated membership officer is assigned to each applicant.

KNOWLEDGE SHARING THROUGH TECHNICAL GROUP WEBINARS

Our technical group webinars are great networking opportunities to develop your personal knowledge, exchange experience and information with others working in areas related to your own. The events are ideal for young engineers to gain valuable insight and knowledge.

Speakers include specialists with diverse experience and backgrounds covering the fields of welding practice, welding technology, metals and non-metals, other joining technologies, surface treatments, inspection, non-destructive test, integrity assessment and integrity management across all industries from micro-electronics to heavy industry.

ACCESS TO LOCAL AND GLOBAL NETWORKS

Branches provide invaluable opportunities to build your professional and social networks and gain extra support outside of the work environment.  The programme of events includes webinars, talks, visits, dinners and more. As a Member, you can attend as many Branch events as you choose to.

Participation in branch webinars are free. These are usually one expert speaker presenting on an engineering subject and last about 1.5 hrs – the recordings or slides for these are available on the Members portal and you can access a back catalogue of those.

Another way of keeping in touch with like-minded Members is through the Branches LinkedIn platform.

ACCESS TO TWI LTD DIGITAL LIBRARY

A powerful new resource for discovering TWI Ltd's unique knowledge, now digitised.
