There are three types of associate membership:

1. Standard Associate membership 
2. Student Associate membership available to any student enrolled on to a course that has the minimum equivalent length of one full academic year. The (free) Associate Student grade is available for the duration of the enrolment up to a maximum of five years. 
3. Associate membership for graduate applicants combined with interim Engineering Council Registration

Graduate applicants looking to gain professional registration with the Engineering Council will initially be given membership at Associate level. This will be combined with interim registration with the Engineering Council at a Interim Chartered Engineer or Interim Incorporated Engineer level (depending on your qualifications).
