Richard Dolby Award
The Richard Dolby Award, sponsored by Rolls-Royce, is presented biennially by The Welding Institute’s Younger Members’ Committee (YMC). The ninth award was presented in 2026.
A £1,000 cash prize is presented to a young person who can demonstrate achievement and enthusiasm in welding, joining, or materials engineering at an early stage of their career. Runners‑up will each receive a £100 voucher in recognition of their commitment to the competition. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your technical talent and stand out in your field. Submissions must relate directly to welding and joining technologies. Examples of suitable submission types include:
