Overview: In this talk, Professor Jones will give an overview and insight into the manufacturing challenges and potential solutions associated with a range of nuclear fission and fusion technologies.
Speaker: Prof. Dr Steve Jones PhD, CEng, FWeldI
Speaker Biography: Professor Jones leads the strategic technology development for the NAMRC with accountability for the advancement of applied engineering practices associated with joining, materials engineering, numerical analysis and simulation, machining, NDE and Codes and Standards across the fission and fusion power communities. He is also the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s Radioactive Waste Management theme leader for advanced engineering and manufacturing research, and a contributing member to the ASME BPVC Section IX committee. His welding research and development portfolio extends across several processes and material spectra involving fusion, solid-state and brazing applied to Fe, Ti, Ni, Al Zr, Hf alloys.
