Overview: This talk will focus on the Common Problems with the Arc Welding of Aluminum.
Welding aluminum is often beset by problems, particularly to those who are not familiar with it. This talk will cover the common problems encountered, their main causes and the changes in weld design or welding practice that can affect and improve the ease of welding aluminum alloys.
Speaker: Joanna Nicholas – TWI Team Manager and Principal Metallurgist
Speaker Biography: Joanna Nicholas is a Team Manager and Principal Metallurgist obtaining her degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Wales, University College Swansea in 1999. She joined TWI in the same year, and has been involved in research and failure investigations, mainly with ferritic steels. She has also been involved in various aspects of computer modelling, particularly for research projects.
