Overview: This talk will be about the process of constructing an onshore gas transmission pipeline. It will present and discuss the different options for welding and for non-destructive testing, including manual and automated systems
Speaker: Alan Kirkham (NDT Consultant)
Speaker Biography: Alan worked for over 30 years for National Grid (formerly British Gas) as their in-house NDT expert. This role included writing the company standards and specification for inspection of welds in new construction and for in-service inspections of welds and equipment. Alan was the lead on a number of European funded research projects into suitability of new technology and methods for the testing of welds used during the construction of gas pipelines and the associated plant and equipment.
