AWFTE: What is its role?

This is a Member only event organised jointly by the South Western and South Wales branches of The Welding Institute. All members are welcome to attend.

Overview: The Association for Welding, Fabrication, Training and Education (AWFTE) is a membership organisation comprising colleges, training establishments and individuals. With a shared interest in supporting and developing resources for the next generation of engineers, this talk will outline how the AWFTE hopes to ensure future generations have the necessary, skills, knowledge and competence to support a thriving sector in years to come . 

Speaker: Hugh McPhilips 

Speaker Biography: Hugh is the President of South Western Branch with over 35 years of teaching fabrication and welding. He is now a consultant specialising in bespoke training, welder approvals and consultancy on course delivery. A former Chair of the AWFTE, Hugh still sits on the AWFTE Management Committee as well as on the Professional Board of The Welding Institute. Hugh is Technical Director for 2 E-Learning Programmes and author of two books on fabrication and welding. 

Continuing Professional Development (CPD): Attending this event supports your professional development.  You can claim 2 CPD points per hour for this event.  As a member of the Welding Institute you can record your CPD activity online from your membership portal.
