This is an East Midlands Branch event organised and run by the East Midlands Branch Committee on behalf of Branch members. Other members are very welcome to register for this talk. Non-Members are also welcome to join us.

Overview: After a brief introduction to Electron Beam Welding, the talk will explore some of the guiding principles of process control with case studies and experience based upon over 20 years of working with this particular joining process

Speaker: Alistair Smith (Capability Acquisition Manager for Joining and  Rotatives at Rolls-Royce)

Speaker Biography: Alistair has had a career, so far, in aerospace manufacturing. After graduating in Materials Science at Sheffield University, he joined Rolls-Royce and is now in his 26th year. For the majority of that time he has been involved with Joining processes and in particular Electron Beam Welding. He has been Rolls-Royce’s EBW Process Lead globally for over 10 years. More recently he has moved into the field of industrialisation ensuring that all joining processes for Critical Part Manufacture meet the needs of the customer and business.
