K TIG for piping and vessel fabrication: savings and advantages in production and quality

This is a London Branch event organised and run by our London  Branch for  members of the London and Kent Branches. Other members and non-members are welcome to join us.

Overview: K-TIG is a highly refined, keyhole variation of GTAW; with or without filler. It is used for austenitic, duplex and super-duplex stainless steels, carbon steels, and titanium, zirconium, and nickel alloys. It can be used with a square edge joint configuration giving an average time saving of 90%, in suitable applications.

K-TIG is able to perform single-pass full penetration butt welds in materials up to 12mm thick allowing a butt weld in a 10-inch schedule 40 pipe weld in stainless steel being able performed in circa 3 minutes with no, or minimal edge preparation.

Speaker Biography: Lucas Bendo-Watson is involved with the market development of, and training provision for K-TIG customers. Lucas has a background as a coded pipe welder and piping supervisor in the oil and gas industry with time served in the Moomba gas fields, and involvement Wheatstone LNG, Ichthys LNG and Roma GLNG Upstream projects. Following years working in K-TIG based in Adelaide, Australia Lucas relocated to the UK this year to increase promotion of K-TIG in the UK and EU.
