Eastern Counties Branch Technical Talk

This is an Eastern Counties Branch event organised and hosted by the Branch Committee on behalf of Branch members. All members of the Branch are invited to attend our AGM. Other members and non-members are very welcome to register for the talk.

Overview: In this talk Philippa describes how materials science and welding engineering can be used to support insurance or litigation cases for both small and large losses, illustrated with some case studies.

The Speaker: Dr Philippa Moore IWE FWeldI FIMMM

Speaker Biography: Philippa Moore works at Jensen Hughes as the Principal Materials/Metallurgical Engineer in the UK forensics team. Before joining Jensen Hughes a year ago, Philippa spent 18 years at TWI Ltd, and developed an international reputation in fracture toughness testing, and failure of welded steel structures. In her new role at Jensen Hughes she uses her knowledge and experience to investigate not only mechanical and engineering failures, but also helps with cases related to fires and flooding, often initiated through insurance claims. In this talk Philippa describes how materials science and welding engineering can be used to support insurance or litigation cases for both small and large losses, illustrated with some case studies.
