This global webinar is part of The Welding Institutes Summer Series 2022, open to all our members.
Overview: The lifetime of a variety of structures is limited by the fatigue performance of its welds. This talk will provide a refresher on why welds are so susceptible to fatigue. Some of the test methods used by industry to measure the fatigue performance of their welded joints will be described, and results of some recent research on fatigue performance will be presented.
Speaker: Dr Carol Johnston MWeldI CEng
Speaker Biography: Carol joined TWI in 2009 and is now a Consultant. Carol has a lot of experience in running resonance fatigue testing projects to qualify girth welds made using new procedures and connectors. She is also now focussing on how TWI can do more work for the Wind Industry. Carol is the FIM section Quality Advisor and a topic organiser at OMAE.
