This is a London Branch event organised and run by our London Branch for members of the London and Kent Branches. Other members and non-members are welcome to join us.
Overview: This lecture by Zsolt Pinter of WAAM 3D Ltd will show the amazing advances in welding additive manufacture. WAAM3D Ltd is a spin-out company of Cranfield University commercialising the Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) process for the creation of 3-dimensional objects. It focuses on developing large-scale applications of WAAM, many of them for aerospace components and in titanium alloys. The benefits of the process are the reduction in waste by eliminating machining complex components from solid blocks of material, components being manufactured to order with reduced lead times. This enables faster procurement and launch of products increasing the utilisation and reducing energy footprint. The process is digital and is capable of printing a part straight from the CAD file.
Speaker: Zsolt Pinter
