Overview: NDE Level III has very significant role in ASME Boiler & Pressure vessel construction according to Sec I, Sec VIII Div.1 , 2,3. Besides non destructive examination responsibilities , they play important role in training, qualifying and certifying Level I, II and IIIs. According to ASME Sec V Article 1, which is the referenced standard for performance of NDE in ASME code construction, there are additional requirements to be satisfied over and above SNT TC 1A or ISO 9712 to qualify and certify NDE Level III. We shall attempt to explain and clarify those additional  training and examination requirements for some of the general NDE  methods and some advance techniques like PAUT and TOFD.
