About this webinar
This lecture is on the basic methods of non-destructive testing of welds and their fundamental features, focussing on surface inspection methods (visual, dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection) and radiography and ultrasonic inspection.

Anyone wanting to know what the basic NDT techniques are and the science behind how they work.

EUR ING Alan Denney CEng MSc FWeldI, Editor: Welding and Joining Matters
The Welding Institute Volunteer
Alan is a metallurgist, welding engineer and corrosion engineer. He worked in building structures, offshore platform construction and design, chemical process systems, and onshore and offshore pipelines over a career of more than 50 years. He has worked for Arup, John Brown (for over 25 years), Wood Group, Saipem (9 years) and IntecSea (Netherlands). Since ‘retiring’ has been working as a consultant performing ‘expert witness’ work for arbitrations and court cases. He is currently the editor of Welding and Joining Matters and is a former President of the London Branch of The Welding Institute.
He has BSc and MSc degrees, is a Chartered Engineer, a European Engineer and an International Welding Engineer. Alan was one of the team who established the Young Engineers Programme for the Institute of Corrosion.
