North Scottish Branch Event
From Snapshots to Continuous Insight: Driving Maintenance Efficiency and Safety with Automated UT Monitoring
What will the event cover?
This is a joint talk between the Institute of Corrosion Aberdeen Branch and The Welding Institute North Scottish Branch on 'From Snapshots to Continuous Insight: Driving Maintenance Efficiency and Safety with Automated UT Monitoring'
Register for this event here:
HotSense, developed by Ionix Advanced Technologies, is a field-proven solution designed to overcome these challenges. Based on proprietary piezoelectric materials, HotSense sensors enable automated ultrasonic wall thickness monitoring in extreme environments, with continuous operation from -200oC to +550oC. The system is certified for use in Zone 0 hazardous areas and has been successfully deployed in a wide range of industrial settings where traditional sensors and probes are not viable
What will you learn?
The presentation will examine how different data collection approaches, standalone data loggers, on-site wireless networks with local storage, and cloud-integrated systems, can be selected and applied to meet the specific operational requirements of different sites. Each configuration supports different levels of infrastructure and accessibility, and case studies will be shared to demonstrate how these options have been used to improve data quality, increase inspection efficiency, and support condition-based maintenance strategies. Examples span a range of industries, including:
- Realtime Erosion Monitoring of Remote Wellheads
- Steam corrosion in CCGT power plant
- Automated corrosion monitoring if Alkylation units
- High-precision wall thickness monitoring in nuclear power plants
Industry expert will be:
William Vickers of Ionix Advanced Technologies, Leeds, UK
Meet the speaker:
William completed his PhD in Ceramics at the University of Leeds in 2013. Having worked at all levels of the business, he is responsible for ensuring the products and services that Ionix offer address the needs of their customers. He has been responsible for the successful delivery of international projects and collaborations and is an expert in the application of sensors and monitoring systems in extreme environments
