London Branch Technical Talk
This is a London and Kent Branch event organised and run by our London Branch. Other members and non-members are welcome to join us.
Overview:- This lecture tell you:
§ What are the rare earth metals.
§ Where they come from and how they are mined and processed.
§ What they are used for.
§ Why they are essential for modern technology.
§ How the Chinese gained control of 97% of the world production and what the rest of the world is doing about it.
Speaker:- David Rowe CEng CSci FIMMM FWeldI (Cedar Metals Ltd)
Speaker Biography:- David Rowe has worked for over 40 years in the refractory metals industry for major companies in the field, and established Cedar Metals Ltd in 2004, a specialist consultancy company covering refractory metals, rare earths, and their usage in the Aerospace, Defence, Chemical, Electronics, Furnace, Oil & Gas, Nuclear and Glass industries. David’s other specialist subjects include friction stir welding, furnace design powder metallurgical processing and the thixotropic processing of aluminium and magnesium alloys.

The is a hybrid event. Please indicate whether you will be attending in person on the registration form to assist with catering. There will be tea and coffee available from 5:30pm with a sandwich buffet afterwards for those attending in person.
